The Devil

The chain you could lift off. The Devil is about entanglement and habit rather than evil: the figures are bound by loops loose enough to step out of, and the binding is that they have stopped checking whether the loops are tight.

The harder edge

Naming a pattern is satisfying and it is not the same as leaving it. Insight can become one more thing the habit survives.

The Devil by position

The same card says something different depending on where it lands in a spread.

As the foundationwhere this came from
A pattern took hold here. It served something once, which is why it lasted.
As the currentwhat is live now
You are more free in this than you are acting. The constraint is partly agreed to.
As what is formingthe near horizon
The grip loosens — not by force, but by your interest in it running out.
As a single cardwhat to carry this week
Test one limit this week that you have been treating as fixed.
The question this card asks

What have you decided you can't change, without recently testing it?

Draw it for yourself
