Temperance

The patient middle. Temperance pours between two vessels with one foot on land and one in water, making something that neither extreme could produce — the work is proportion, and proportion takes longer than either excess.

The harder edge

Moderation can be genuine balance or it can be a refusal to commit, wearing balance as a costume. The difference shows in whether anything is actually being made.
